Why An Engagement Session is SO Worth It

Are you rocking a brand new engagement ring and wondering if you should book an engagement session before your wedding? You might be like me and feel awkward in front of the camera or maybe you just don’t see why you need engagement photos. Today, I’m sharing the reasons why engagement sessions are so worth it and why I 100% recommend booking one with your wedding photographer.

You’ll get comfortable in front of the camera

For a lot of people, engagement photos are the first time they’ve had a professional photoshoot. During your engagement session you’ll learn to relax and feel more at ease while having your picture taken and you’ll feel like a pro when wedding day rolls around. Snuggling up with your partner while having a picture taken can take some getting used to – besides, practice makes perfect!

You’ll get to know your photographer
Establishing a relationship with your photographer before the wedding will make a huge difference in the outcome of your wedding photos. Getting to know your photographer, learning how they work, and laughing with them during your engagement session can really help you trust them to make you look fabulous. Your photographer will also take note of how you interact with each other and your individual personalities so your photographs are more unique to you!

You’ll have a chance to slow down
Planning your wedding can be stressful and time consuming. During your engagement session, you’ll have a chance to slow down and really let it sink in that you’re ENGAGED! To make this time even more special, pick a place for your photos that is special to you. It could be where you got engaged, your first date spot, or your hometown – wherever you choose, make sure it’s somewhere that makes you happy.
You’ll have gorgeous photos to use prewedding

Once you have your engagement photos, there are so many things you can do with them. They can be given as gifts to your family, you can make a small album for your coffee table, or you can make prints for your home. Engagement photos are also commonly used on save the dates and on your wedding website. They can even be incorporated into your wedding day by using them in your guest book or as wedding decor.

You’ll get to see professional photos of yourself before wedding day
Seeing yourself in professional portraits before your wedding day will give you the chance to tell your photographer if there are any poses or angles you don’t care for and you can point out the shots you do like too. Once you see your gorgeous engagement photos, you’ll have more confidence in yourselves and your photographer. When your wedding day rolls around, you’ll feel like a natural in front of the camera!

Now that you know why engagement photos are so great, let’s book a session! An engagement session is also included in most of my full-day wedding packages.
