Why a Winter Wedding in Charleston is Actually the Best

Right now there’s a lot of rescheduling going on due to the very rude interruption of COVID-19. While you’re considering new dates, don’t rule out a winter wedding!

There are so many perks to getting married in the winter months. Below, I’ve listed some reasons why a winter wedding in Charleston is actually the best!

Here’s why you should consider a winter wedding in Charleston!

There’s much less humidity

If you’ve been around Charleston during the summer, you know how miserable the heat and humidity can be… and how frizzy it can make your hair. Less humidity means that your hair and makeup will stay in place longer and your guests won’t be uncomfortable (and damp) the whole day.

It’s less expensive

The off season is real folks! During the winter months, venues often offer lower rates giving you a wider range of options for your budget. You may be able to book that dream venue after all!

Your favorite vendors have more availability

Spring and fall weddings are so popular in Charleston that many vendors are working back to back weddings every weekend. During the winter, vendors have much more availability and you have greater chance of booking your dream team!

You can serve hot drinks

Spiked hot cocoa and mulled hot cider – YUM! And you could add a hot cocoa bar in lieu of a dessert bar – or add it to the dessert bar, no judgements here.

Most guests can RSVP yes!

Since there are generally fewer weddings and vacations happening in the winter, there’s a chance more of your invited guests will be able to come to your wedding! Travel and accommodations are also less expensive during the winter making it easier for out of town guests.

There are so many color palette options

Just about every color palette works for a winter wedding. You can also mix in some different textures during the winter too!

You can cozy up your event space with a fire

If your venue has a fireplace, your guests will love sitting around it throughout the night. At many venues in Charleston, you also have an option to use an outdoor fire pit and the weather is usually just perfect for that!

It’s a great time for a tropical honeymoon

If you’re dreaming of a honeymoon on the beach, winter is a great time to take that trip. Not only are accommodations and travel less expensive but there will be fewer people around. This is also true for popular European destinations!
