One of the big questions after couples book their engagement session is “What Should I Wear For Engagement photos?” This topic can be so stressful to brides and grooms to be as their photo session gets closer. Today, I’m going to help you figure out what to wear for your engagement photos so you will love the end result!
Wear Clothes You’re Comfortable In
One of the most important tips I can give you is to wear something you’re comfortable in and feel good in. This can mean a few different things. First, make sure what you choose to wear is not too snug or too big – you feel best when your clothes fit just right! Second, don’t wear a fancy dress and tux if you and your fiancé are strictly t-shirt and jeans people – you want to look like the best version of yourself, not a completely different person!
Complement Each Other, Don’t Match
Matchy-matchy outfits are not ideal for your engagement photos. Instead, choose colors and patterns that complement each other. Check out my What To Wear Pinterest board for some ideas.
Don’t Be Afraid of Colors and Patterns
Don’t be afraid to wear vivid colors and patterns for your engagement photos, just make sure they’re not too distracting. Be aware that busy patterns and too bright colors can distract from the two of you in your images.
Think About A Second Outfit
Many couples choose two outfits for their engagement session – most of the time a formal and casual outfit. Having two outfits gives your gallery so much variety and gives you images for any occasion. Pro tip: I recommend starting out with your formal outfit since couples are generally more stiff at the beginning of their session.
Opt For Timeless, Not Trendy
We’ve all seen photographs from the ‘70s and ‘80s that look so dated because of what people are wearing in the image. I suggest that my clients wear something that will make them look timeless, not dated as soon as the trend goes out of style.
