The Gadsden House is such a gem, hidden right in the heart of Downtown Charleston. Even though it’s surrounded by the city, the courtyard feels like a private oasis. This historic home can complement any wedding day style and is adaptable with indoor and outdoor spaces.
The Gadsden House’s features are romantic, yet understated. From the spacious interior, accented with marble fireplaces and gorgeous chandeliers, to the covered porches and sweet brick courtyard outside, this Charleston venue is sure to charm all of your guests.

What I Love About Weddings
at The Gadsden House
- Large, beautiful space to get ready in. There’s even a separate area for the guys to hang out and get dressed in that’s across the courtyard from the house.
- Everything can take place at the venue. Getting ready, portraits, ceremony, reception – there’s no need for running around venue to venue! The surrounding area is beautiful too.
- There are indoor and outdoor options at this venue! You can host your guests al fresco on the brick patio, add a tent, utilize the porches, or take the party inside the historic home.
- You get beauty and privacy at this venue while being close to everything downtown – perfect for transporting everyone to your after party!

Pro Tips for Weddings
at The Gadsden House
- Consider having your ceremony a couple hours before sunset. The lighting can be harsh in the courtyard before then.
- Build in as much time as possible for portraits – you’ll want to take advantage of the home’s beautiful nooks!
- Keep an area clear of bags and trash for getting ready, bridal, or couples portraits. You’ll want some photos amongst the tall windows and beautiful chandeliers.
- Since the venue is downtown, there isn’t much free parking but there is a parking garage right across the street. Make sure your guests know how to find parking and that they will probably need to pay a small parking fee.
