One of the big photo events on your wedding day will be taking family photos with your grandparents, parents, siblings, and any other close family members. While this isn’t always the most fun part of the day, these are some of the photos that you will cherish for generations. They will be some of the images that you will choose to frame and add to your album. Here are some tips for stress free family photos on your wedding day!

Fill out your wedding questionnaire thoroughly
For each of my wedding couples, I ask them to fill out a wedding questionnaire a few weeks before their wedding. On the questionnaire there’s a space to fill in all of your family photo combinations. During family photos, this is the list I will be using to make sure I take all of the shots that are important to you. Make sure to take your time while filling this in!
Build in time for family photos
Family photos usually take place right after the ceremony or may take place before if you’re having a first look. Either way you choose to arrange the day, make sure to plan at least 30 minutes to take family photos.

Inform your family members
Let each guest on your family photo list know when and where they’re expected for family photos! This process goes so much smoother if everyone is present and no one has to be tracked down.
Assign a wrangler
Give this job to a bridesmaid or cousin who visually knows most of the guests and can help make sure everyone is around who is expected for family photos. This person is so helpful to me as a photographer and can help make family photos go by so much faster.
