Did you know that Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day are 4 of the 5 most popular days of the year to get engaged? So if you’re sporting around a sparkly new rock, you’re not alone!
If you got engaged over the holidays, CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is such a special and exciting time for you and your fiance! But it can also be a little confusing to know what to do next. That’s why I decided to write this post, to help you know what the most important things to do are after getting engaged!

Here are your first wedding planning steps after getting engaged!
1. CELEBRATE!!!
First, make sure to celebrate! This is such an exciting time in your lives and it’s important to share that moment together. Pop some champagne, go for a weekend trip, or throw an engagement party with your nearest and dearest!
2. Talk about your wedding day priorities!
You’ll want to talk about what your priorities for the big day are. Do you want really great food, amazing photography, a party band that will keep your guests dancing all night long? Make a list and focus on these things first.
3. Set a REALISTIC budget!
Talk about what a realistic budget looks like for your wedding day and discuss how you’re going to pay for everything. Are you paying for the wedding yourselves? Are your parents or family contributing? Don’t skip this step – it’s vitally important to know what you can afford and finding great vendors who fit that budget. A great planner can also help with this!
4. Hire your must have vendors ASAP!
Look for and hire your must have vendors first! The wedding boom is real so if there are certain vendors you have been dreaming of having at your wedding, don’t wait too long to book them!
And if you’re looking for a great photographer, I’d love to chat with you! I also love to recommend my fellow Charleston wedding vendors 🙂
