Some of my very favorite Charleston wedding venues are hidden gems. The places I don’t really get to visit as often as the more well-known venues. There are so many more amazing venues than listed below, but here are a few of my favorite, off the beaten path wedding venues near Charleston.
1. Runnymede Plantation
Runnymede Plantation will ALWAYS be at the top of my list. Besides the fact that I got married here in 2018, this venue has it all. Gorgeous Ashley River views, brick ruins of it’s former plantation house, and a huge oak tree dripping in Spanish moss – be prepared to fall head over heels for this place!

2. The Island House
The Island House is such a unique venue! The patterned wallpaper inside is a fun backdrop for detail shots and getting ready photos. Outside, the river views and gorgeous facade make for such a romantic setting for your wedding.

3. Cypress Trees Plantation
Dreaming of a plantation venue but want something different from the norm? Cypress Trees Plantation is worth a visit! Located just outside of Charleston, on Edisto Island, this place is a southern wedding dream.

4. Cypress Gardens
Cypress Gardens recently reopened and I’m so glad to have this place back in my life. The swamp and cypress trees throughout the property are so, so beautiful and they have the sweetest row boats!

5. Hampton Lake
Hampton Lake is located in Bluffton. It’s a little ways outside of Charleston but is definitely worth the drive. I photographed a wedding here a few years ago and it was the perfect laid back, lakeside venue.

I hope you’ve found some inspiration from these off the beaten path wedding venues! There are so many great wedding venues near Charleston – what are your favorite hidden gems? Let me know in the comments!
