The Sweetest Places to Elope in Charleston, SC

During COVID many couples have opted to elope and have a big celebration later when family can join them instead of completely giving up their wedding day. While I’m sure this isn’t exactly what some brides and grooms had in mind for their big day, I’ve become a fan of these intimate wedding ceremonies where the focus is placed on what really matters… marrying your best friend!

Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite places to elope in Charleston, SC. Charleston is home to so many beautiful locations just dripping with Spanish moss and southern charm. I’ll help you find a little slice of heaven just perfect for your wedding day!

1. Magnolia Plantation

Magnolia Plantation is one of those Charleston wedding venues you imagine when reading a southern romance novel. It’s THAT gorgeous! At Magnolia Plantation, you can get married amongst the moss covered oak trees and then stroll through the gardens to soak in all that “just married” bliss.

2. Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site

For something a little different from the norm, Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site is home to the brick remains of the bell tower of St. George’s Anglican Church – a great centerpiece for your ceremony. Colonial Dorchester is so dreamy and feels like your own little secret forest as you stroll through the trees and along the river bank. The perfect spot for a low key elopement!

3. Folly Beach Wishing Tree

If you’ve always dreamed of a laid back beach wedding, the Folly Beach Wishing Tree is your dream come true. The wishing tree is located at the end of Folly Beach County Park and is adorned with strings of seashells, placed on its branches by wishmakers. Check out this beachy elopement at the Wishing Tree! It’s an oldie, but a goodie!

4. White Point Garden

White Point Garden, located right next to the battery is so popular for elopements and for good reason! The park contains rows and rows of oak trees, a sweet white gazebo centerpiece, and is right next to the Charleston harbor. After a ceremony at White Point Garden, bride and groom photos around the historic streets of Downtown Charleston are a must!
