How To Date Your Fiancé | Charleston Wedding Photographer

He’s proposed, you’ve got the ring, and now the wedding planning begins. The day you’ve been dreaming about since you were young is now finally coming to life but until it does, it seems to consume your every thought.

So how do you date your fiancé? How do you keep planning from getting in the way of your relationship and spend more time together in the days leading up to your wedding? Keep reading for a few ideas.

Have “date night”

One night a week (or a couple times a week if you want!) go out together and do something fun. Something you enjoy. Something you love doing together. And the kicker – DON’T under any circumstances bring up the W-E-D-D-I-N-G! Yes, you can talk about how you can’t wait to marry each other, tell people you’re engaged, and all of that other mushy stuff but no planning!

Make a wedding planning date

If you need to get some planning accomplished, make it a date! I know I just said no planning on a date night but sometimes you’ve gotta do what you gotta do. Make dinner, pop a bottle of champagne, and talk about your dreams for your wedding, check out some vendor websites, or schedule some cake tastings!

Hire a wedding planner

One way to make more time for each other is to get some planning help. Charleston has a gaggle of fabulous wedding planners just waiting to make your big day dreams come true. They can be kind of like your very own Fairy Godmother.

Take dance lessons

Now guys – I know this doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun but my fiancé thought the very same thing and ended up having a great time when we went for our first lesson. Dance classes do double duty. You may want to look like you know what you’re doing during your first dance and it’s such a fun time together. You’ll laugh at each other, maybe get a tad embarrassed depending on your skill level, and you get to hold each other close for a while. Doesn’t that sound nice?

Get fit for the wedding

If you’re working out to get that #WeddingBod, why not do it together? Besides, isn’t it so much more fun and motivational to have a gym buddy? And some gyms may offer a special rate for couples. Hmm…

Have an engagement session

And finally, make a date out of your engagement session. You could get dolled up to have a session in downtown Charleston, take a carriage ride through the streets, and then stop by Kaminsky’s for dessert – or whatever appeals to you! Contact me to make it happen! 😉

No matter what you do, just remember why you’re getting married and don’t lose sight that the wedding is just a celebration of your love and the beginning of your lives together. Happy engagement!
