If you’ve found this page, you’re probably planning a proposal in Charleston soon. Congratulations on the decision to ask the love of your life to marry you! This is such an important moment and I want to help make the planning of it a little bit easier. Whether you’re a local or you’re planning to pop the question while you’re visiting, I hope this post helps you pick the best place to propose in and around Charleston. Here are my 5 favorite places to propose in Charleston, SC!
1. Chalmers Street
Looking to pop the question surrounded by historic downtown Charleston charm? Chalmers street is the longest cobblestone street in Charleston and runs right through the middle of (in my opinion) one of the most beautiful areas in the city. Imagine taking a walk through town and pausing in front of the charming row homes or St. Philips Church to ask your person to marry you.

2. Cypress Gardens
Ok, so Cypress Gardens is about 45 minutes outside of Charleston but still so worth the visit – especially for your proposal. The park boasts a romantic black water swamp that was also the filming site of the lake scene in the notebook. Imagine rowing amongst the cypress trees and then popping the question in this fairytale setting.

3. Colonial Lake
Colonial Lake is a park in the heart of downtown Charleston surrounded by beautiful homes and beautiful flowers year round. This park provides a more intimate setting for a proposal without sacrificing that Charleston charm. A great place for an afternoon stroll and becoming fiancés!

4. Folly Beach County Park
Dreaming of a proposal on the beach at sunset? Folly Beach County Park is the best place to catch the sunset on the beach in Charleston. Nothing complements a sunset on the beach better than a sparkly new ring on the hand of your beloved!

5. Hampton Park
If you’re dreaming of proposing in a more natural setting, Hampton Park is a great option. This park is huge and has a ton of different location options. The beautiful paths lined with large oak trees and colorful flowers (especially during the create a secluded space, perfect for an intimate proposal.
